The story behind SalOS
Four generations of salt
The Correia family has been producing artisanal sea salt at Venta Moinhos since the 1970s. Located inside the Reserva Natural do Sapal de Castro Marim e Vila Real de Santo Antonio, our salt pans sit at the heart of one of Europe's most important wetland ecosystems. When we looked for digital tools to modernise our operation โ to manage 142 salt pans, satisfy DOP auditors, and prove to international buyers that our salt is genuinely different โ nothing existed. So we built SalOS.
Inside a nature reserve
The Reserva Natural do Sapal de Castro Marim has been a protected area since 1975. It's home to flamingos, spoonbills, and salt-tolerant flora. Our salt production coexists with this ecosystem โ a harmony that DOP certification protects and SalOS documents.
